Overview:
Pendx Streamlined Checkout
from Digital Beach greatly simplifies the Standard StoreFront checkout
process into a simple, 2-step checkout process
consisting of a shipping page and a payment page.
Customers are not required to create a customer account
on a separate page by entering their email and a
password - this is automatically assigned to them and
sent in a confirmation email.
Streamlined Checkout supports many advanced shipping
method configurations to fine-tune supported shipping
methods for virtually any merchant need, including
custom shipping methods, location constraints, product
and order-level shipping rate calculation, and advanced
filtering for International Shipping rates.
In addition to simplifying and streamlining the checkout
process, this Pendx add-on dramatically reduces
customer 'drop out' from the checkout process due to
confusion, frustration or boredom.
For this reason most merchants see an immediate increase

Comments:
The folks at Pendx were
early adoptors of StoreFront 6 when it was first
released, but found that the default checkout process
was overly confusing for their customers. By
tracking individual customer behavior, they discovered
an alarming number of customers failed to complete the
checkout process, but instead dropped out and never
completed their purchase. After researching the
matter carefully, the determined that the true need was
for a streamlined checkout process consisting of only
two pages - a shipping page where Ship-To and Bill-To
information is collected, and a Payment page.
Impact on sales was immediate. Subsequent releases
provide fine-grain control over shipping rates and how
they are calculated and displayed.
